Young Voices - Need to be Heard

Through the beginnings of a small research project, sharing a questionnaire with students in Vietnam, it continues to be so clear that young voices need to be heard. It is often assumed that they don't yet have voice, that they don't know what they are talking about, or are too young to have anything valid to add to the conversation.

Sexuality education and gender rights is something which we (adults) tend to dictate to them (young people). This black and white view of us teaching them is dated, its a transmission format for teaching and learning, a didacticism of who knows best.

But when it comes to knowledge, of understanding, of the construction of the world we want to live in, everyone needs to be involved - everyone needs to be asked - especially those for whom the 'knowledge' is meant.

Would you like to share any ideas for how to engage young people further?
